One day, a lion lay sleeping in the sun, having just eaten a great meal. A mouse was playing nearby, climbing over him, and woke him up. The lion. caught him and prepared to crush the poor mouse, who begged for mercy, and the lion, seeing that the mouse had meant no harm, let him go.

Some time later, this same lion was caught by a hunter and tied up with rope. The lion could not get free and roared his anguish so loudly that for miles around his cries could be heard.
